Potential challenges/new ideas for this blog

Obviously I will run into problems when I go through this school year, so I want to write them down and take ownership of them early. I will first write down potential problems then think of potential ways to think around them.

1. Challenging teachers

2. Getting behind and feeling like I can't catch up.

3. Sudden depression/depression in general

4. Procrastination

5. Not being able to sleep at night/feeling tired.

6. Going home then forgetting about your responsibilities because you make amazing food.

7. Drained from too much online screen time

8. Getting distracted

1. Challenging teachers

I feel like one of my biggest challenges thus far in college is asking for help from professors.

possible solutions:

  • In a class that I am struggling in set up a weekly time to go and talk to the teacher, so it is the default not the emergency option.
  • The idea of writing who could help me in daily blog is a really good idea, maybe following up with self to see if it worked.
  • After each homework session write all of the questions you have for that professor then send them via email.
  • Make as many study sessions with friends as possible

2. Getting behind and feeling like I can't catch up.

  • Don't get behind.
  • The idea from last blog to organize what homework to do first based on importance instead of what is the closest, because I often find myself writing or doing homework the night before when I could have been doing it a week in advance
  • Get ahead while I can.
  • If I do get behind then schedule friends to help.

3. Sudden depression/depression in general

  • Don't get behind
  • Break up/get broken up with girls on non-important weekends
  • Find new girls quickly, and don't get so mopey
  • Schedule as many group sessions of study even if you have to do it video conferencing.
  • Find activities to do that are interesting.
  • Excersize as much as possible. OOOH you can do homework while walking on a treadmill
  • Go to bed at a reasonable time. Go to bed with Ryan (room mate) cause he is smart about it.
  • Only watch movies/play video games when there is someone else there playing with me. Or in short intervals while doing homework.
  • Read books over the weekend

4. Procrastination

Things that cause me to procrastinate:

  • TV/Anime/video-games
  • Social events
  • Not wanting to do it because it will be hard.
  • Store.
  • Finding cool stuff online
Possible solutions:

  • Only watch movies/play video games when there is someone else there playing with me. Or in short intervals while doing homework.
  • Read books over the weekend
  • Taking things one step at a time.
  • Write in blog feelings about what you are about to do.
  • Limit distractions to short bursts when I take breaks during homework.
  • 5. Not being able to sleep at night/feeling tired.

    • Only watch movies/play video games when there is someone else there playing with me. Or in short intervals while doing homework.
    • Read books over the weekend
    • Set homework time to earlier in the day.
    • EXERCISE!!!
    • Go to bed when room mate goes to bed.
    • Turn on setting that eliminates blue light at a certain time of the day.
    • Do arm wiggling thing.
    • DON'T TAKE LAPTOP TO BED!!!!

    6. Going home then forgetting about your responsibilities because you make amazing food.

    See distractions

    7. Drained from too much online screen time

What I am worried about is burning my eyes out from too many zoom classes/ homework on my computer.

    • Do the 20 minutes on 5 minutes off approach.
    • Block blue light better
    • Do in person meeting when possible

    8. Getting distracted

  • Only watch movies/play video games when there is someone else there playing with me. Or in short intervals while doing homework
  • Read books over the weekend
  • Limit distractions in 20 minute 5 minute approach.
