Ideas for the Expectations for this Blog for Donovan

Purpose of this blog: 

Get through a rough 18 credit semester

This blog will keep me on task by forcing me to keep myself accountable


Ideas to do so: 

Write a post before every class and every time I am about to practice (if new voice teacher doesn't require it) and every time I sit down to do homework. Then comment afterwards what I learned...


More refined idea: 

After Every Class I take a few moments to write what I learned, even if I had written down everything. Potentially in bullet form.

Potential questions to ask myself for classes:

  • What did you learn in this class, and why was it important?
  • What seemed easy about this class?
  • What seemed hard about this class?
  • What can I do/who can I talk to between now and next class in order to learn the material?
  • When will I do the homework?

Every time I sit down to do homework I take one to two minutes to write another post about what I want to accomplish in the time, then comment afterwards about it.

Potential questions to ask self before study time

  • What do I need to accomplish?
  • What am I going to accomplish?
  • How much time do I have?
  • Who can I ask for help if I need it?
  • What study skill can you use?
Potential questions to ask self during/after study time (these will be comments)
  • What did you learn, and why is it important?
  • What didn't you understand?
  • did you do everything in the before study time
  • Did you honestly give it your all?


I think I should write things in the morning and in the evening

Potential questions to ask in the morning

  • What assignments are due in order of difficulty and importance for at least a week in advance
  • What assignments are you going to do?
  • When are you going to do it?
Potential questions to ask at night (in comments)
  • Did you accomplish what you set out to do? why?

Potential challenges/new ideas for this blog

 Obviously I will run into problems when I go through this school year, so I want to write them down and take ownership of them early. I will first write down potential problems then think of potential ways to think around them. 1. Challenging teachers 2. Getting behind and feeling like I can't catch up. 3. Sudden depression/depression in general 4. Procrastination 5. Not being able to sleep at night/feeling tired. 6. Going home then forgetting about your responsibilities because you make amazing food. 7. Drained from too much online screen time 8. Getting distracted 1. Challenging teachers I feel like one of my biggest challenges thus far in college is asking for help from professors. possible solutions: In a class that I am struggling in set up a weekly time to go and talk to the teacher, so it is the default not the emergency option.
